Dayton divorce attorney Steven Abshire decided to pursue a career in family law because he wanted to play a supportive role to families during some of their most trying times.

Divorce, which can affect every aspect of a person’s life and is regularly cited as one of the most stressful life events a person can experience, is certainly a challenging transition for many men and fathers who Mr. Abshire hopes to help.

Mr. Abshire examines each case on an individual basis and works with his clients to establish clear goals that they want to achieve during this process. Through it all, he encourages patience and persistence.

“It’s a marathon, not a sprint,” Mr. Abshire said. “There will be some ups and downs through this, and it often takes longer than what is expected, but we will get through it.”

Mr. Abshire is licensed to practice in Ohio.

Education

Mr. Abshire received his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Affairs and his Master of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science from Wright State University. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo. He also served in the U.S. Army Infantry Battalion, which included a deployment in Operation Desert Storm.

Professional Experience

Prior to working at Cordell & Cordell, Mr. Abshire practiced family law, including custody, divorce, and child support. He also was previously assigned to the felony criminal docket at the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office and was a supervising attorney assigned to prosecute both sexual and physical abuse cases involving minors.
