“Family law clients are often going through one of the more emotionally charged times in their lives,” Mr. Lopatin said. “I enjoy helping navigate them through the legal process and mitigating any emotional toll caused by their case.”

Mr. Lopatin gives his clients honest and practical guidance to help them through a variety of family law matters, including dissolution of marriage, parentage, domestic violence, spousal support, child support, custody, visitation, attorney’s fees, move-away, school choice, custody evaluations, enforcement matters, adoption, drafting of settlement agreements, and drafting of pre-/post-nuptial agreements.

Mr. Lopatin is a skilled negotiator and always has a firm understanding of his client’s goals before engaging in settlement discussions or litigation. Mr. Lopatin routinely attempts to meet and confer to resolve disputes whenever possible, while concurrently being ready and prepared to aggressively litigate any issues that cannot be agreed upon.

Mr. Lopatin also ensures his clients have a realistic outlook of their case so they know what to reasonably expect.

“Although this process might not be quick, I will fully explain each step we will take along the way, and I take pride in providing my clients a quick response to any questions or requests,” he said.

Education

Mr. Lopatin received his Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Buffalo. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University where he graduated as a Clinical Family Law Intern, cum laude, and served as Marketing Editor of Nova Law Review. Mr. Lopatin then received his Master of Laws in intellectual property, with Phi Kappa Phi Honors, from DePaul College of Law.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining Cordell & Cordell, Mr. Lopatin practiced family law and consumer protection class action litigation.
