Family law is one area of law that many people experience in their lifetime, yet most people are still unfamiliar with the process and rights they have as a parent.
Des Moines divorce attorney Kate Simon enjoys highlighting the great aspects a client brings forth when describing their individual and unique situation and bringing that to light in a custody battle.
“In my opinion, it’s one of the most humanized areas of law and therefore the most rewarding when I know a client trusted me to help them achieve their goals,” Ms. Simon said. “I like to help set them up for success in co-parenting situations for their children as well, which can be extremely delicate.”
Ms. Simon is a great listener and can relay the most favorable aspects of a client before a judge in a thoughtful and professional way.
“I also think I have a good ability to test when it is necessary to take a case to trial and when I feel that it’s in a client’s best interest to settle,” she said.
Ms. Simon is very straightforward and will not hesitate to voice her opinion. She likes to highlight the aspects she thinks a client should continue to do, and why she sees their goals attainable. She also educates clients when they may not realize something they are doing is hurting their case.
“I think this process gets to the root of what a client’s goals are if they may not be aware of what they even want at the start because they are unfamiliar with the process and their rights,” she said.
