Joe Cordell Explains How Amazon Petition Relates To Firm
In his most recent column for the Huffington Post, Cordell & Cordell Principal Partner Joe Cordell explained how the recent petition against Amazon Mom relates to the firm’s overall mission.
Recently, a community of father bloggers have started a campaign to petition Amazon to change the name of its parent-focused discount program Amazon Mom to the more inclusive Amazon Family.
The movement has exploded over the last month and the Change.org petition now contains more than 10,000 signatures.
That the online retail giant uses the “Amazon Mom” name in the United States while using “Amazon Family” in the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany Austria, France, and Japan is indicative of how fathers in the U.S. are frequently marginalized throughout popular culture.
“For years, dads have been pushed to the margins,” Mr. Cordell said. “For more than 25 years, my law firm Cordell & Cordell has aggressively championed the rights of fathers, but they are still unfairly dismissed in instances like this.”
