Scott Trout Discusses Intricacies Of Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie Divorce
About This Episode
The news of the end of “Brangelina” has dominated headlines and celebrity gossip websites all week as Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt. Although websites like TMZ will surely continue to sensationalize the story, the case is raising some legitimate legal questions.
Cordell & Cordell Executive/Managing Partner, CEO Scott Trout recently joined Newsradio 1110 KFAB-Omaha to discuss some of the developing details of the case.
Mr. Trout said that Jolie, who is seeking physical custody of the couple’s six children, made a smart move by filing first.
“She’s forcing his hand to come to the table and settle,” he said. “Here we have two Hollywood A-listers, and if you’re going to play it right then you come out swinging and bring him to the table.”
Mr. Trout added that Pitt, who is facing allegations of child abuse and drug abuse, could face an uphill battle in regards to custody thanks in part to the gender stereotypes that still pervade the family court system.
“Predominantly, across the country, guys are at a disadvantage when it comes to custody,” he said. “Look at the statistics and you’ll see, they wind up with far fewer days and overnights with kids.”
