Cordell & Cordell, along with its sponsored sites Dads Divorce and Men’s Divorce, presents a news video for the week of April 3, 2015.

This week, Cordell & Cordell posted an interview Principal Partner Joe Cordell conducted with Phoenix Money Radio’s “Business for Breakfast.”

Mr. Cordell explained how many successful people often make mistakes in marriages and divorce proceedings by allowing emotions to dictate their decision-making process.

Dads Divorce published a new article explaining how it is determined which parent has the right to decide their child’s religion.

If the child is old enough, they will usually be allowed to decide what religion they practice. Otherwise, the decision is typically given to the legal guardian. In joint custody situations, a number of other factors come into play.

Men’s Divorce added a new video to its Attorney Bites series explaining which parent can claim the children on their tax return.

According to Fairfax divorce attorney Rebecca DeVincent, a child usually needs to have lived with a parent for more than half the year if the parent is to have the right to claim them as a dependent. However, there are other instances where a noncustodial parent would be allowed to make the claim.
