Cordell & Cordell Austin attorney Kelly Burris has been selected to the 2013 Texas Rising Stars list. This marks the ninth time in the previous 10 years that Ms. Burris was recognized with this prestigious designation.
Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.
Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.
Lawyers are asked to nominate the best attorneys who are 40 years old or under, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. They are instructed to nominate lawyers they have personally observed in action — whether as opposing counsel or co-counsel, or through other firsthand courtroom observation.
Ms. Burris is also Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, one of only 743. In 2010, she received the President’s Award of Merit from the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and in 2006 she was named one of the “Best Lawyers in Dallas under 40” by D Magazine.
