About Sandra Zegarra, Litigation Attorney
Family law was Sandra Zegarra’s passion while in law school. The Falls Church divorce attorney wanted to be a partner to her clients while they went through one of the toughest and most emotionally charged moments in their lives.
“I treat every one of my cases with empathy and compassion, recognizing that the breakdown of a family unit can be a traumatic event,” Ms. Zegarra said.
Her hope is to be there for her clients through every step of the legal process and make it a little easier for them.
“I strive to be a partner to my clients and will help protect their rights and what is most important to them every step of the way,” she said.

Ms. Zegarra is licensed to practice in Virginia.
Education
Ms. Zegarra earned her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School. She received her bachelor’s degree in political science, with a minor in international relations, from Arizona State University, where she graduated summa cum laude.
Professional Experience
At The George Washington University Law School, Ms. Zegarra was a student attorney with the Family Justice Litigation Clinic, where she worked with indigent domestic violence litigants. While in law school, she also interned at Tahirih Justice Center, where she assisted in a number of cases of victims of severe and gender-based violence. Prior to joining Cordell & Cordell, she practiced immigration law at a legal non-profit, where she worked with unaccompanied children and child refugees who were the victims of severe forms of violence, including sexual violence, gender-based violence, gang violence, and trafficking.
