About Mikayla Zummo, Associate Attorney
Ms. Zummo knew from her first year of law school that family law was where she belonged. “I felt a real sense of comfort and passion in being there for people during one of the hardest times in their lives,” Ms. Zummo said. “I appreciate being involved in an area of law where I know I can make a direct impact on people’s lives.”
That pull toward family law shaped her time at UNC School of Law, where she completed the Domestic Violence Clinic and the Youth Justice Clinic, served on the Women in Law Executive Board as Social Coordinator and on the Executive Board of Law Students Against Sexual and Domestic Violence as Programming Coordinator, and logged more than 100 hours of pro bono work.
She graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University with dual degrees in Political Science and Sociology and a minor in Business Administration, then earned her Juris Doctor from UNC School of Law.
For Ms. Zummo, knowing the law is only part of the job — family law also demands the empathy to sit with clients in their worst moments and help guide them toward stability
