Cordell & Cordell Executive/Managing Partner, CEO Scott Trout was recently quoted in a Bloomberg story about qualified domestic relations orders (QDRO).
When couples divide their 401(k) plans in divorce, they are charged a fee to process a QDRO in order to transfer assets in a defined-contribution account. Depending on the circumstances, these fees can cost anywhere from $300 to $1,200 or more.
Mr. Trout said Cordell & Cordell typically charges $500 to $700 to draft a QDRO, and the attorneys do much of the heavy lifting.
