About Scott G. Baker, Senior Litigation Attorney
Scott G. Baker’s first exposure to domestic litigation occurred when he took Family Law under the esteemed law professor Janet Richards at the University of Memphis. Following law school, Mr. Baker clerked for Tennessee Court of Appeals Judge David Farmer. Over the past nearly twenty years, Mr. Baker’s practice has involved zealously advocating for the interests of his clients, while practicing empathy and relatability. “Generally, the client does not come into the office on a winning streak, and I understand that. I get it,” he said. Mr. Baker added, “I have developed skills representing individuals who are essentially in ‘crisis mode.’” His goal is to find pragmatic, realistic solutions for these oftentimes very multi-layered and complicated issues.

Education
Mr. Baker earned his Bachelors of Science in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University (Cum Laude). He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (Magna Cum Laude). While in law school, he was a member of the Law Review.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Cordell & Cordell, he represented disabled individuals at all levels of appeal before the Social Security Administration. In addition, Mr.Baker has worked representing parents in Juvenile Court in matters involving dependency & neglect, severe abuse, contempt, custody and child support. He also served from time to time as a guardian ad litem.
