Schwarzenegger to keep home after divorce

Maria Shriver is packing her bags while Arnold Schwarzenegger will keep the couple’s Brentwood, California, home in the aftermath of their divorce, according to multiple reports.

While figuring who will keep the house is often a contentious part of a divorce settlement, both parties have reportedly been amicable. Shriver is purchasing a new $10 million home three miles away from Schwarzenegger in order to make the transition easier for their children.

Shriver filed for divorce from the former California governor early this month after 25 years of marriage. The proceedings began two months after allegations surfaced of Schwarzenegger’s affair with a household employee. In addition, Schwarzenegger fathered a child with the woman more than 10 years ago.

Shriver cited irreconcilable differences for the split and has reportedly requested custody of the pair’s two minor children Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13.

The couple, who are worth an estimated $400 million, do not have prenuptial agreement. Under California’s Community Property law, their assets must be divided evenly during their split. However, RadarOnline reports that Schwarzenegger plans to give Shriver a “generous” settlement regardless of the state law.

Schwarzeneger reportedly paying child support

Arnold Schwarzenegger is paying child support to his estranged wife, Maria Shriver, for the couple’s two minor children even though the two have not reached a financial agreement regarding their separation, RadarOnline reports.

Although neither Schwarzenegger or Shriver have officially filed for divorce, a source told the website that the former Governor of California has been paying Shriver a “significant” amount of child support. In addition, he has also been covering the expenses for sons Patrick and Christopher’s private school.

While Shriver herself is considerably wealthy – her mother was John F. Kennedy’s sister and she reportedly received a large inheritance following the death of her parents – under California law she is entitled to child support once either she or Schwarzenegger file for divorce. Lawyers for the couple are allegedly in the process of finalizing a divorce settlement.

Although some media outlets have reported that Schwarzenegger wanted to reconcile with Shriver following his shocking admission to fathering a child with the couple’s longtime housekeeper, Shriver has been photographed on multiple occasions without her wedding ring.

The couple has four children – Katherine, Patrick, Christina and Christopher. Schwarzenegger was photographed on Fathers Day with his youngest son, Christopher, although the rest of his children were not seen.

Schwarzenegger hires divorce attorney

Movie star and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger recently hired a divorce lawyer.

Schwarzenegger and his long-time wife, Maria Shriver, are reportedly parting ways after being married for 25 years. The announcement of the divorce came just months after Schwarzenegger finished his second term in the California governor’s mansion and nine days before he announced that he had fathered a child with a former household worker.

The Denver Post reports that Schwarzenegger hired divorce attorney Robert Kaufman, who has represented other high-profile clients such as Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson and Reese Witherspoon.

A number of media outlets have reported that the divorce could cost the man who starred in such iconic films as “Conan the Barbarian” and “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” more than $100 million.

The Post reports that the couple had a prenuptial agreement but the fact that Schwarzenegger cheated during the marriage could invalidate it.

Shriver has retained the services of a high-profile divorce attorney of her own. Laura Wasser has reportedly represented such clients as Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Stevie Wonder and Angelina Jolie.

Shriver hires divorce lawyer

Coming shortly after the revelation that her husband, movie star and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, had a child with a household worker, it was discovered that Maria Shriver has retained the services of a prominent divorce lawyer.

Shriver, the niece of President John F. Kennedy, has hired Laura Wasser, who has been involved in a number of high-profile celebrity divorce cases, according to the Huffington Post.

The news source reports that it is unclear whether Schwarzenegger, who admitted to fathering a child with Mildred Baena, has retained the services of a divorce attorney.

The former body builder from Austria recently ended his tenure as the governor of California and had planned to get back into the movie business, however those plans may now be on hold, reports The Associated Press.

Schwarzenegger reportedly told his talent agency to postpone any of his movie projects that were either beginning to approach production or were being negotiated until further notice.

“Gov. Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines,” a statement from his office said.

Schwarzenegger, Shriver Separating, Divorce Next

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife of 25 years, Maria Shriver, recently announced that they would be separating.

The star of such iconic movies as “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” and “Predator” married Shriver, a television journalist and niece of President John F. Kennedy, on Cape Cod in 1986, reports The Associated Press. The announcement of their separation comes just months following Schwarzenegger’s two terms in the California governor’s mansion.

“After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together,” the pair said in a joint statement.

It is unclear if at this early stage of the process whether either party has hired a divorce attorney; the Austrian native said that he is taking it “one day at a time.”

“I just spoke to Maria an hour ago before I came here, and we both were saying the same thing; we are amazed and extremely blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people and so many wonderful friends,” he said at an Israeli Independence Day event in Los Angeles, reports the Huffington Post.

TMZ reports that Shriver has been contemplating divorcing Schwarzenegger for two years.
