Tampa divorce attorney Suzanna Johnson was initially drawn to the area of criminal law but fell in love with family law after her first family law case, which she took on a pro bono basis.
“It wasn’t an overly complicated or litigious case, but just being able to assist my client in closing a painful chapter of their life and watching them start anew – I knew that was the feeling I wanted to continue to have,” Ms. Johnson said.
Ms. Johnson values empathy for others and understands that everyone has different lived experiences, especially when it comes to divorce.
“Having the ability, or at a minimum, the desire to try and understand the feelings of another, I think is a beneficial trait to have, not only in practicing law, but specifically family law,” she said.
Ms. Johnson cautions her clients that there will likely be times when she might tell them things they do not like to hear, but her hope is that will help establish trust through this difficult process.
“It is my hope that you will respect that I am straightforward and honest with you so we can collaboratively accomplish your goals and work to try and achieve the best results possible for you,” she said.
