About Spencer Pierson, Litigation Attorney

Spencer Pierson enjoys helping people and making a positive impact on their lives. That’s why he got into family law.

“I am motivated by justice, and where family law deals directly with relationships, love, and children, I believe that motivation is best suited in this field,” he says. “My goal is to be an advocate, and I think that is only possible by caring for the work I do, and the people I am providing that work for. Family law generally handles the parts of life that the average person cares about most, whether that be family, property, or autonomy.”

Working closely with people is one of the best parts of the job, Mr. Pierson says.

“I am a people person. I want to get to know my clients. I want to know their motivations, and if they really are unsure about what they want exactly, I intend to help them figure it out,” he says. “A family law attorney is different than other attorneys—we have to dive deep, we have to deal with the “gray”, with the in-between areas of the law that do not always have a plain black or white answer. I am ready to handle whatever issues arise, and willing to adapt to new information that arises or circumstance change.”

Mr. Pierson is licensed to practice in Kentucky.

Mr. Pierson earned his Juris Doctor from the J David Rosenberg College of Law at the University of Kentucky in 2018. He also graduated with a BA in Philosophy and Minor in Political Science from Western Kentucky University in 2014.

Professional Experience

Mr. Pierson served as law clerk for United States Magistrate Judge Matthew A. Stinnett in the Eastern District of Kentucky where he dealt with a large assortment of cases, mostly in federal criminal matters.

After his clerkship, he worked briefly at Kolb Clare & Arnold in Louisville doing subrogation and reimbursement law focused primarily on ERISA rights.

Most recently, he worked at a firm in Louisville, where he practiced family and criminal law.

Reviews from Our Past Clients
  • “It took years for me to come to a decision to end my marriage. I sought a law firm that is focused and prepared for trial if need be, and seeks to give me the best outcome possible. Cordell and Cordell has performed very well and is very supportive during this difficult time. I have full confidence in my representation and recommend them.”

  • “Divorce is hard enough without trying to find a Lawyer who will truly work for you. I had several conversations with Lawyers that seemed only interested in winning somehow. No one wins in a divorce. I should have went to Cordell & Cordell first so I would have avoided a lot of headaches. I met a group of people that genuinely care for you.”
