Prior to joining Cordell & Cordell, the majority of Sacramento divorce attorney D. Michell Flores’ domestic relations clients were males. Having the experience of representing men in domestic relations sheds a light on the injustices and extra obstacles men must jump over to have their voices heard.
“Going through a divorce, or fighting to spend time with children, can put people in vulnerable situations,” Ms. Flores said, “and the idea of knowing that I can play a role in making the experience as pleasant of an experience as it can be given the circumstances, is what drives me in this field.”
While a simple and overstated concept, Ms. Flores lives by treating others the way she would want to be treated. In a domestic relations situation, she is the type to fight relentlessly, produce realistic results, and to be empathetic with the client.
Ms. Flores believes clear and effective communication is essential during this difficult process. She places a lot of importance on communication with her client, and expects the same level of communication from them in order to do her best work.
“I promise to keep you informed of every step of the process you are about to endure, in order to create trust,” she said. “The trust between a client and attorney is an important component of success, and it is my goal to create and maintain that trust.”
