Super LawyersThree Cordell & Cordell Maryland divorce attorneys were recently named Rising Stars in the family law practice area by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters rating service of outstanding lawyers.

Kristine Rea and Jessica Zadjura earned the distinction for the second time while Rebecca Brannan Ripley was named to the list for the first time. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the attorneys in each state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.

Ms. Rea, who was previously named a Rising Star in 2012, is a litigation manager in Cordell & Cordell’s Baltimore office. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore.

Ms. Ripley, a litigation manager in the firm’s Baltimore office, previously received the Bar Association of Baltimore City’s Presidential Award for dedication to public service and to service within the BABC. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law.

Ms. Zadjura, an associate attorney in the firm’s Baltimore office, was also named a rising star in 2016 and was named to the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys Top 10 Attorneys Under 40 list in 2014.

The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.

Lawyers are asked to nominate the best attorneys who are 40 or under, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. They are instructed to nominate lawyers they have personally observed in action — whether as opposing counsel or co-counsel, or through other firsthand courtroom observation.
