Cordell & Cordell, along with its sponsored sites Dads Divorce and Men’s Divorce, present a news video for the week of February 6, 2015.

This week, Cordell & Cordell announced that Fort Worth Senior Attorney Lauren Melhart was one of only 34 family law attorneys to receive Board Certification in Family Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2014.

Board Certification is a voluntary designation program that certifies Texas attorneys in 21 specific areas of law.

Dads Divorce published a new article looking at the trend during this year’s Super Bowl of companies running advertisements depicting fathers in emotionally-endearing roles with their children.

Toyota, Nissan and Dove Men+Care produced ads showing fathers in caring and nurturing roles, which fits with recent research that shows that more dads are building stronger emotional ties with their kids.

Men’s Divorce posted a new article outlining what factors courts commonly use when considering a reduction or termination to child support or alimony.

Although laws vary by state, modifying child support or alimony typically requires a change in circumstances. Terminating child support will usually mean waiting until the child is emancipated. Ending alimony is often less clear if the decree doesn’t include specific stipulations.
