Super LawyersTwo Cordell & Cordell attorneys in Indiana were recently recognized as Rising Stars in the family law practice area by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters rating service of outstanding lawyers.

Jason Hopper and Cara Chittenden were both awarded the the Indiana Rising Stars designation.

Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in each state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.

Mr. Hopper is a Team Leader in the Noblesville, Ind., office. This award marks his fifth time being recognized by Super Lawyers. Since joining Cordell & Cordell, Mr. Hopper has been recognized as the firm’s Rookie of the Year in 2010 and a Regional Top Performer in 2011. He earned his Juris Doctor with a Litigation Concentration from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Ms. Chittenden is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Indianapolis office. She has now earned the Super Lawyers distinction in each of the last four years. She received her Juris Doctor Cum Laude from Indiana University School of Law.

The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.

Lawyers are asked to nominate the best attorneys who are 40 years old or under, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. They are instructed to nominate lawyers they have personally observed in action — whether as opposing counsel or co-counsel, or through other firsthand courtroom observation.
