super lawyers 2014Two Cordell & Cordell attorneys in Tennessee were recently recognized as Rising Stars in the family law practice area by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters rating service of outstanding lawyers.

Kimberly Gray and Tiffany Yates each earned the distinction for the first time. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in each state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.

Ms. Gray is a Litigation Manager in the Franklin, Tenn., office and has been recognized by Cordell & Cordell several times for her performance and commitment to client service. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law and has presented at Cordell & Cordell’s “10 Stupidest Mistakes Men Make When Facing Divorce” seminars.

Ms. Yates is an Assistant Litigation Manager in the Memphis, Tenn., office of Cordell & Cordell and was named one of the firm’s Regional Top Performers in 2013 and Overall Top Attorney in 2012. She has also participated in multiple training programs through the National Institute of Trial Advocates and is trained as a Court Appointed Special Advocate where she works with abused and neglected children.

The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.

Lawyers are asked to nominate the best attorneys who are 40 or under, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. They are instructed to nominate lawyers they have personally observed in action — whether as opposing counsel or co-counsel, or through other firsthand courtroom observation.
