No matter where you are in the process, divorce is usually a challenging experience. Across the board, however, the most intimidating aspect of going through a divorce is actually appearing in court.

“The importance of conducting yourself properly during your hearings cannot be overstated – the judge presiding over your case is extremely busy and you have a very limited amount of time to make a positive impression,” Mr. Cordell wrote.

Mr. Cordell stressed the importance of strategizing with your attorney, dressing professionally, showing respect for everyone, and maintaining self-awareness.

“Obviously, divorce court is an unpleasant and difficult experience for anyone,” Mr. Cordell said. “However, proper preparation will go a long way toward minimizing the complications you encounter, and these tips will help improve your chances of success when your day in court inevitably arrives.”
